Pastor Bruce Anderson
Pastor Bruce Anderson is a life-long United Methodist. As a lay person he was involved with music as well as youth and adult education, and worship at Palatine, Quincy (Vermont Street) and Arlington Heights UMCs. He was also active with Barrington UMC in adult and youth education, attended mission trips and was part of the Praise band. He has also been active with Salem UMC, in Barrington, IL, as an adult education leader, liturgist and part of the Outside the Walls ministry in Chicago. He has done pulpit supply in the Elgin district, Chicago and Horton Bay Michigan. He has also been part of the Elgin District Lay Speakers Academy committee.
He is recently retired from the Village of Hoffman Estates, IL where he was Cable TV Coordinator and a past-president of the Illinois chapter of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) as well as a past treasurer and board member of national NATOA.
Bruce has an M-Div. from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary and an MFA from Columbia College, Chicago, and is also pursuing certification in chaplaincy with first responders through the Salvation Army. He is married to the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Anderson (Sr. Pastor, Batavia UMC). They have grown children: Stephen and Katherine.
In his free time, Pastor Bruce enjoys reading, running, music, biking, motorcycling and wood working.
Olive Aliga -- Music Director
An excellent Musician, Olive provides accompaniment to worship, directs and plays for the choir. In addition to being a mother and grandmother Olive achieved much more:
Her previous music experience includes Piano Teacher, Vallejo Conservatory of Music, Music Teacher, New Life Christian School and a Former Board Member, Illinois State Music Teachers Association
She has prior worship guiding experience as Pianist and Assistant Conductor and Conductor at Fellowship United Methodist Church in Vallejo, CA and New Life Christian Church in Middleton, WI.
She has also received musical honors such as Chicago Filipino-American Hall of Fame Award in Music and the Gintong Pamana Anahaw Award in Music
She has been recognized for her Christian service. Receiving the Exemplary Christian Service in the World Award, Winfield Community United Methodist Church, Special Mission Recognition, United Methodist Church, a gift for ministries with women, children, youth. Women’s Division. General Board of Global Ministries, and the Special Mission Recognition, a gift for the mission of the church from the Northern IL Conference, United Methodist Church.
Founder and First Pres.-University of the Philippines Vanguard Corps of Sponsors International,(UPVCSAI) an organization which helps with the environment by planting trees and seedlings,works Habitat for Humanity to construct suitable housing for the less fortunate an outreach program helping kids with cancer, helping the Coalition of Services for the Elderly by providing transportation, toothbrushes, toothpaste, meals, among others.
She has as well received several honors from University of the Philippines and the Alumni Association.
